Viola and Oreste

Photobucket

This past Saturday, Sonya and I had a bit of a different experience. We second shot/collaborated two weddings with our friends from One² Photography – Paul and Marek. Sonya went to Niagara Falls with Paul to shoot at the Hilton. Marek and I went to Toronto to shoot Viola and Oreste’s wedding, which was so much fun!! Sonya will be sure to have the blog post of the wedding that she was a part of up in a few days ;)
Second shooting is always so much fun! When I am a Second Shooter, as oppose to the Primary Photographer, I am able to float around and be that fly on the wall, grabbing all the candid shots. I usually take on roughly 5-ish Second Shooter contracts a year, which really helps change up the wedding season from when I am busy shooting my own weddings as the Primary. This was Sonya’s first experience Second Shooting for someone else, rather than for me.

The ceremony took place at U of T, in the Music Room – so much character. I love U of T and would love to shoot more weddings there. So, if there are any brides and grooms thinking of using this venue…. please call me, haha.

I feel like I was a bit spoiled to be a part of this wedding. Here’s the story: Oreste’s father owns the restaurant that was used for the reception, being in the restaurant business, Oreste’s father is quite the wine connoisseur. He purchased 50 cases of really good vintage wine when Oreste was born – this wine was to be served at Oreste’s wedding…. GUESS WHAT! Marek and I got to drink some of this 1979 wine!! It was incredible! Over the years, Oreste’s father did sell off some of the wine, which sold for roughly $4,500 a bottle. There was so much of this 30 year old wine being consumed!

Marek and I were able to photograph a bit in the kitchen because the restaurant was family owned! The meal at the restaurant was pure Italian – there were seven courses ;) No joke, we ate for over 4 hours, haha.
