Vibrant Fall DIY Wedding Photography in Gatineau and Ottawa! Remember Chantal and Alessandro from their Montréal engagement session? Well, here is their beautiful Autumn wedding! Chantal and Alessandro, missionaries of New Tribes Mission, met through their work in West Africa. Chantal had been living and working among the Konyagi people of Guinée for a number of years when Alessandro joined the mission field in Sénégal. Chantal is originally from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada where their wedding ceremony was held – just minutes away from Canada’s capitol city, Ottawa. The busy morning of their “big day” started with Chantal having her hair done at the York Street Spa in Ottawa, followed by her sister-in-law finishing her makeup for her at the Ramada Plaza Manoir du Casino back in Gatineau, before heading back over to her parents’ home for the final preparations. Meanwhile, Alessandro, being from Italy, prepared for the day surrounded by a few close family and friends having come all the way from Italy for their wedding! Their ceremony took place in Chantal’s family’s home church, Église Baptiste Évangélique Le Sentier, having been beautifully decorated by Chantal’s talented close friend, Tharani. The décor was simple and effective, with a lot of greenery and candlelight providing both a romantic ambiance, as well as reminders of the African landscape that Chantal and Alessandro hold close to their hearts. Chantal had also selected one of her favourite African flowers for her bouquet, the gorgeous Protea, also seen on The Knot and Elizabeth Anne Designs. Both Chantal and Alessandro were very thankful for the many friends who travelled all the way from West Africa and beyond to celebrate with them! The ceremony was very intimate and involved some of Chantal’s closest friends and family, especially her father and each of her siblings. The ceremony was followed by a receiving line and refreshments prepared by friends and family, consisting of a wide array of amazing African and other international dishes. It was great seeing so many people involved and contributing personal touches to the celebration. Afterwards, we briefly stopped by the Théâtre de l’Île for portraits – it’s located on a small island surrounded by a gorgeous park along the river – before making our way to Ottawa’s Parliament Hill. Then off to their reception at Ottawa’s Pine View Golf Course! The reception was also decorated by Tharani who did an awesome job! Using variously sized paper lanterns of fall colours, shear fabric, and these incredible succulents in eclectic pots surrounded by candles in the centre of each table, she transformed the room. The evening was full of great speeches, hilarious games, fun stories, awesome company, and last but not least, dancing! We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent with these two and their guests, and even made a few friends ourselves! Congratulations to Chantal and Alessandro. We are so happy for you both, and we will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you continue to live and work together abroad!
