Squamish Smoke Bluffs Park Engagement Photography… Surrounded by ridges and peaks of the Coast Mountains along the Sea-to-Sky Highway, very few have viewpoints at their fingertips such as this. Snowcapped ranges in the distance are a gorgeous sight from the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Perhaps this is one of the factors that drew Caleb far from his roots in rural Southern Ontario to the west coast of Vancouver. Being situated among rivers, mountains and valleys with the Pacific Ocean alongside it, BC’s southwest coast literally has it all. But all selling points aside, it was meeting Megan that sealed the deal. After we met Megan for the first time, it was a no brainer; what is there not to love?! Her genuine smile, thoughtfulness and fun personality – of course Caleb’s family fell in love with her, as well. And so, here we are, five years later on the west coast for their engagement portrait session! We wanted to highlight one of Vancouver’s main features in their portraits – the mountains. There wasn’t a lot of time to work with, so we needed to find a location within Vancouver’s vicinity that would not require a long and intense hike to reach. I remembered Squamish being a gorgeous area to visit on our way to Whistler Blackcomb, surrounded by rugged forest, mountain peaks, and the fjords that make up the northern end of Howe Sound. After discovering that our initial idea of riding the Sea to Sky Gondola would not be possible due to unexpected repairs, we stopped in at the Squamish Adventure Centre to get ideas for a short and easy hike to a lookout point. We quickly discovered that “short” and “easy” are relative terms, but we were not disappointed with the choice of Smoke Bluff’s Park. With its dense forest, multiple lookout points, and winding trails switching back and forth as they climbed around steep rock faces, we couldn’t have been sent to a better spot. We hope you enjoy viewing their session as much as we enjoyed photographing it!
