Spring Indie Sarnia Beach Engagement Photography! We were anxious to show off these photos early, especially with their wedding fast approaching! It’s a good thing that Beth and Scott chose to have their engagement portraits in Sarnia because we would be hard pressed to find a location as stunning as this. Beth and Scott, both newcomers to the Sarnia area, met and fell in love while living and working in the Sarnia area, so it was only fitting that their engagement portraits be done in the city where it all happened! The two of them love the beach and spend much of their free time here at Canatara Park beach when it’s warm and sunny. You would never know it’s only spring by looking at their summery photos! With the trees in full bloom, vibrant flowers and lush greenery, the park was gorgeous!

Hamilton Urban Elegance Winter Wedding Photography at Liuna Station! Featuring some of Hamilton’s best urban architecture and a roof top portrait session, Jami Lee and Braedon’s wedding was full of charm and elegance with a modern twist. Being one of the warmest days in January, their wedding sure did not feel like, or look like, winter. It had been so warm the previous week that there was hardly any snow left anywhere. At least the higher temperatures made it that much more bearable for the wedding party to get awesome photographs outside! Incorporating three of Historical Hamilton‘s architectural finds, Jami Lee and Braedon’s ceremony took place at Westdale United Church, followed by portraits at our studio before entering the King George Ballroom at Hamilton’s historic railway station, now named after Labourer’s International Union of North America (Liuna) station. We love old urban architecture for it’s character and regal beauty! Their reception was not only gorgeous, but so much fun! This was due to having great family hospitality (including our mutual friend JennaLane!), the awesome company of close friends and guests, and an amazing DJ – Gary Lynch from Hype Nite Productions (really, he’s that good. He had the whole crowd going – not just the young folk). Their wedding cake, created by Let Them Eat Cakes of Hamilton, was exquisit and accented with one of the best and most unique cake toppers we have seen yet, found on Esty. Truly a memorable day… Congratulations Jami Lee and Braedon!

Snowy Woodland Winter Engagement Photography in Brantford! Jimmy and I had been looking forward to Dennis and Amanda’s rustic winter engagement session for a long time. Dennis, a best friend of Jimmy’s, and his fiancée Amanda had been bouncing various ideas back and forth before deciding on an outdoor winter session. Taken near Onondaga in Brant County, the timing for this privately owned property could not have been better! A clear and sunny day after a massive snow storm left this forest transformed into a surreal winter landscape. Dennis and Amanda pulled behind them an old wood toboggan carrying several borrowed vintage items (and the best red plaid wool blanket ever!) as we made our way through approximately two feet of snow, over a creek, and through the trees to a frozen pond. At times the only sound we heard aside from the crunch of snow under our feet and the click of our cameras was the occasional thud from heavy snow falling to the ground from the trees above us. Some of the best moments we captured were within small clearings illuminated by the sun shining through snow covered branches, while snow steadily sprinkled down, shimmering in the light… it was an awesome experience! We are so grateful to these two for wanting to have winter engagement portraits, and are equally appreciative to their family friend for inviting us to use their acreage. Dennis and Amanda will be tying the knot this summer, and Jimmy is Dennis’ best man! Looking forward to receiving their incredible guest signing book designed with these portraits throughout. Also, the book company has asked to use a copy of Dennis and Amanda’s guest signing book as a studio sample both in store and online! Stay tuned for the book feature, as well as for their upcoming wedding!

Rustic Spring Engagement Photography at Scarborough Bluffs Park! We had a blast with Carolyn and Brian, accompanied by their sweet canine companion, Tymber! Standing tall along Lake Ontario‘s shoreline, the Bluffs overlook dense forest with winding trails that lead to a sandy beach. Soft reeds and budding trees marked early signs of spring as we walked the paths and watched Tymber, clearly in her glory, galloping over the muddy forest floor and ducking under branches, nose to the ground.
Located off of the waterfront trail system is the beach, east of Scarborough Bluffs Sailing Club and Yacht Club. This was a fitting location, as both Carolyn and Brian grew up spending much of their time near water. It was great capturing them in their element, having fun together. Thanks to the nearby Bluffer’s Restaurant we had fresh coffee in our vintage thermos set to share for a bit of a warmup break amidst the cool spring air. Soon after, we found a bonfire! Always up for adventure, Brian decided to ask if we could join the hospitable group of guys as they built their annual lake-side fire pit. And we’re happy they did because it made for some of our favourite portraits of the evening. It was an awesome way to wrap up their portrait session! And a great opportunity for us to make use of our newly acquired antique prop from Sass & Ginger, the lantern seen in the bonfire photos (yay!). We are so happy to have met this awesome couple because they are a joy to hang out with and clearly in love… and they are hilarious. Enjoy their portraits!

Old Hollywood Glam meets DIY Rustic Autumn Wedding at The Walper Hotel!

Before I introduce this awesome couple to you, I would like to take abrief moment to comment on something. Currently throughout the world – more so for Western countries – although populations increase, marriage rates are declining (as are divorce rates, contrary to popular belief). With that reality in mind, Jimmy and I often feel a great sense of hope and awe when we get to know many of our couples and witness their union, as the sense of honest love and care for one another is so evident. They love each other so much that they are openly declaring, with freedom, their commitment to do life together. It’s a testimony to all of the ‘good’ in the world. And with that I will say that Mike and Kerry are one of these couples… You may recall their sweet engagement portrait session, seen here. Now onto their wedding!

Reminiscent of Old Hollywood glamour, Mike and Kerry’s DIY rustic autumn wedding, adorned with pumpkins, was held at Kitchener-Waterloo’s Grey Silo Golf Course and Country Club followed by their reception at the vintage Walper Terrace Hotel! Both incredible settings for an autumn wedding and at just the right time for peak fall foliage colour in this region. Kerry was stunning in her retro-inspired designer gown, fun hair, and red accents (awesome red wedding shoes!). The Grey Silo’s indoor ceremony location provided an intimate and rustic fireside venue, yet well lit by natural light from the floor-to-ceiling glass walls overlooking the grounds. Surrounded by woodsy landscape, trails and rural buildings, the Grey Silo produced limitless backdrops for portraits. Before joining the guests and bridal party for the cocktail hour, Mike and Kerry led us into the heart of Oktoberfest in downtown Kitchener for some fun wedding portraits! The four of us, plus a few groomsmen, received a surprise invite into the Oktoberfest headquarters where Mike and Kerry received VIP treatment with a toast in a private party! Back at the Walper, we took in the fullness of Mike and Kerry’s hard work during the cocktail hour leading into their reception. Kerry had spent countless hours collecting rustic items to repurpose for their decor, putting together their centrepieces and name placements for each guest table, as well as handmaking each of the tiny fondant pumpkin embellishments for their homemade pumpkin spice wedding cake! Yes, Kerry even made her own wedding cake. We trust you’ll enjoy taking in this highly creative wedding! Congrats to Mike and Kerry, with Mike’s  beautiful little girl, a happy family of three:)

Fall Wedding at Toronto‘s Evergreen Brick Works and Rosewater Room with Mod-Elegance… Anna and Bruce’s big day was an awesome blend of style, cool locations, and amazing hospitality. The best way to describe Anna and Bruce’s wedding style theme would be “mod-elegance.” Anna was stunning in her classic ball gown wedding dress, mod updo, and fun blue wedding shoes! Her bridesmaids wore chic knee-length royal blue taffeta dresses, while Bruce and his groomsmen wore handsome grey suits with a subtle retro flare. Incorporating a fresh location such as the Brick Works with the financial district’s prestigious One King West Hotel and Residence and Old Town‘s Rosewater provided a wide variety of must-have settings! We loved their royal blue accent colour set against the vibrant fall backdrop and industrial red brick at the Evergreen Brick Works. All were thrilled to have access to One King West’s signature vault for some amazing groomsmen shots, followed by portraits of Anna and Bruce after their reveal in the elegant front entrance! Of course everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking in the exquisite scene at the Rosewater Room during Anna and Bruce’s intimate and heartfelt ceremony. Following the ceremony was their fun cocktail hour inside ET Canada‘s Toronto International Film Festival party location – Rosewater’s private White Room! Finally, upon entering Bruce and Anna’s reception, all were in awe of the romantic candle-lit ambience of the room combined with Rosewater’s regal-vintage decor. Anna and Bruce’s families were full of enthusiasm and hospitality throughout the day (and we especially experienced that “Italian hospitality” with Anna’s family)! The joy of the day was felt from beginning to end, starting with Anna gleefully preparing in the morning, continuing with tears of joy shared between the couple during their private reveal, and then again during their ceremony. Emotions ran high during Anna’s son’s speech as he gave his blessing and warm welcome to Bruce, both as his mother’s husband, and as his father.

Congratulations to you both, Anna and Bruce! And to our viewers, you may remember this couple from their engagement portrait session at the Cheltenham Badlands!
